The case of the wife who tried to kill her husband with the proceeds of a home improvement loan has gone to trial and the details have proved to be most shocking. Although the wife has refused to answer any questions in the case, her accomplice came forward and is a witness in the case. Simon Wild, prosecuting, stated that the couple had gone through money problems. According to Wild it began, “On January 1, 2007, her brother Richard received a text message asking him to contact her,” he said. “She told him she wanted to borrow £4,000. He asked her why and she rather startlingly told him: ‘I want to have Tim done over.”He went on to detail her quest for a home improvement loan, her turndown at Northern Rock and the eventual approval for a $4500 home improvement loan from Welcome Financial Services.It is believed that the motive behind the killings was to cash in on a life insurance policy. Although the wife gave her brother the money to hire a hit man, it was pocketed instead and the police were eventually alerted. There is no word on what the potential sentence will be if the wife is convicted.
